Locally, a few people I encounter at the bookstore, always make me laugh.  Frank De Luca, has a local psychotherapist practice.  He also teaches at San Fransisco University, and teaches the Enneagram (a particular system of analysis to represent the spectrum of possible personality types).  Well, when Frank pops by the store, Paul & I always find ourselves laughing.  It's not the way he looks; he's a sharp dresser.  He has a great sense of humor. 

This interview took us through different aspect of Frank, his name-sake and back to his family roots; Italy.  Sure to entertain, educate and perhaps warm your heart.

Sensei Danielle Smith is the dojo-cho (chief instructor) at Aikido of Monterey, California.  She is dedicated to continuing to build a dojo community that is committed to and inspired by studying the "Art of Peace."  She also teaches Pilates.  She was a Model Mugging Instructor for many years too.

She shares her perspective as a woman over the 40 years of training in this art of peace, and how she has utilized these skills to help others (age 4 and up) to build confidence and respond to difficult situations in a way that makes friends not enemies.

Gerry Maupin, left and great career as an up and coming attorney, for the good life. He shares his perspective about "enough-ism" and how so many folks don't stop to think about the quality of life rather than a run-on list of endless toys that keep them stressed and unhappy.  He has "enough", so that he takes 4 months off each year!

Pamela Takigawa is a Monterey, California based artist who specializes in watercolor prints of natural and oceanic environments.  She has her work at the Carmel Art Association.  Her detailed monotype prints are transferred to paper to paper with printer's ink on an etching press, but unlike etching, the woodblock print surface is devoid of scratching or caving.  She creates her images by inking the plate and wiping away areas that will be left free of ink on the paper.

She shares her original inspiration, motivation today and the messages she hopes to convey.

Rex Bennett has been in the fitness field for decades and shares his experiences as a professional personal trainer as well as his own journey through career stress, doctor's warnings, multiple medications; to a fit happy and healthy lifestyle.  Great candor, real life experiences and many pearls of wisdom!

Kathryn is a local journalist turned mystery writer, now for the third time!  Her passion for history coupled with her first hand knowledge of the Monterey Peninsula, weaves an interesting, educational and page turning novel.  Beginning with "Murder in the Pines", followed by "Murder takes the stage" and just released "The Laundryman;s Daughter".  She talks about her early days reporting in the Carmel Pine Cone newspaper and how her passion for history began, as well as some of the real stories that found their way into her novels.

Joann Marie Donahoe is a local Vet who make house calls, shares about what "Animal Parenting" as she wrote the book on it!  Much like human family dynamics, when pets ar part of the family they will adapt to the existing dynamics; and mirror what patterns we have put in place.  Joann talks about experiences with extreme cases that very quickly turn around. Full of passion for our four-legged companions, Joann is candid, authentic and entertaining as well as informative.
